This thread is just to consolidate all the deals that have been posted before and future deals that will happen. So if you happen to be online and notice an AWESOME deal for a game, please share with the rest of us and post it here!

By deal, I don't mean, oh yay this game is 50 cents off today. I mean a great deal, this usually means half price or less for old games, free games, or a small discount off a MAJOR game that people are likely to buy at full price anyways.

I will start off with the free Portal that is going on until May 24th, it is 100% free on Steam. :)

http://store.steampowered.com/freeportal/

Also, Direct2Drive is having a sale for the greatest Total War game ever made, Rome Total War Gold Edition. It is $2.50 (it includes Barbarian Invasion, but sadly does not include a copy of Rome Total War Alexander :( ) This is good until May 19th, 2010.

http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/
Giveawayoftheday is where devs release one of their paid programs for free for evaluation. Game GAOTD is specifically for games. It's not as popular, so there isn't a game every day, but a good game does come up every now and then.

Too bad everyone is bitching to Valve about them updating, when 2 months ago they were whining that they weren't updating it.

Good job Valve fanboys, you have earned yourself the award of being the least grateful fanboys of all time (CS:S, L4D2, etc.)

PharaohsVizier
06-28-2010, 12:48 AM
Left 4 Dead 2 was a fantastic deal. KF isn't going to be the bestest game in the world, but I think for $5 it's definitely a good deal. Got a few good laughs out of it already. :)

PharaohsVizier
06-30-2010, 12:01 AM
If you guys aren't checking out what Steam is selling every day, you guys are really really missing out. Some key highlights:

Counterstrike Source - $7
Left 4 Dead 2 - $10 (or $7.50 each in a 4 pack)
Team Fortress 2 - $7
Civilization 4 COMPLETE - $10

And deals that I thought were great that I'm not sure others would agree with:

Europa Universalis III - $10 - Great game, sort of like Total War without the RTS aspect, does the TBS aspect much better
Killing Floor - $5 - sort of a fun game, probably not worth it in the eyes of many, but for the laughs I had, I think it was easily worth $5, though it doesn't even compare to TF2 or something in price to playability ratio
Galcon Fusion - $3 - great little game, there's a free flash version out there, I think the $10 regular price is a little high, but with this discount it is worth every penny.

-------------------------

Things I urge you to buy that are still available:

Valve Complete Pack - $67 - this pack has at least a dozen absolutely classic games in it. I know this isn't a pack for everyone as most of us have a copy of Left 4 Dead or Counterstrike lying around somewhere already and overlapping means you lose a game, but for someone who doesn't have all these games, you should buy now. I bought Left 4 Dead 2 alone for $50, all of these games were good enough so that I paid full price for most of them on release. This is the perfect startup kit for someone that is starting up with steam.

Team Fortress 2 - $7 - this is only still available for the next 12 hours or so, if you don't have this game BUY IT NOW... I don't think I need to say anymore because the sheer popularity of TF2 should be enough

Introversion Pack - $5 - this pack has I think 4 games, I bought it for Defcon, but all 4 games seem to rate fairly high, I also installed Uplink. Both of these games are on the simple side, but Defcon is so extremely fun. It is basically a military simulation game in which you are controlling a territory and you are facing the threat of a thermo nuclear war. A single round goes through Defcon levels 5 to 1, where 5 is simply you being worried about the threat so you build silos and fleets and so on to prepare, and 3 is where you realize there's something seriously wrong, and 1 is when you have all out war, launching nukes everywhere. The game has a very simple and clean look, and it is just a lot of fun when you see big white letters blaring out " TOKYO - 4.2M DEAD" while desperately trying to defend other major cities from succumbing to the same fate. Multiplayer is also ridiculously fun as this game doesn't take too long to play through.

Heroes of Newerth is now FREE TO PLAY.

F2P players get 15 heroes per week, cannot choose whether they play with paid 2 play or f2p and can only play AP.
P2p players have no changes, but can pick whether or not they play with f2p.

A solid change, all should at least give HoN a try.

PharaohsVizier

Unfortunately I think the F2P accounts are quite severely limited. It's good as a sample, but they really should have left the paid accounts available. I mean 15 hero pool, all pick only, only play with f2p. Very very odd...

PharaohsVizier

I saw this on Ozbargains. It's not completely legit, but certainly more so than buying off a cd key reseller that sells Russian keys. I've been looking around for a good deal and I know others are too. Kicking myself for not buying from D2D earlier until I saw this. Ignore the price in the post, it actually goes to $42 because it stacks with another sale right now. The beauty is that it is still in "pre-order" mode so you get the bonuses and everything, but since you are in North America you can play right now.

I worked out a way to get Battlefield 3 Limited Edition on Greenman Gaming bypassing the region lock. This version comes with the 4 free Battlefield 2 maps and weapons.

1) Go to this proxy here http://browsesafely.co.uk/
2) In the proxy type www.greenmangaming.com in the URL section, this will take you to the UK site
3) Navigate the store, find Battlefield 3 and add to cart
4) Apply the voucher GMG10-PERCE-NTOFF (making it $48.80)
5) You can't actually checkout and purchase through the proxy, so navigate back to www.greenmangaming.com normally (without a proxy) and Battlefield 3 will be sitting there in your cart.
6) Purchase and enjoy, key comes instantly

Edit: According to the comments section apparently just going to www.greenmangaming.co.uk without doing all the above works as-well, i haven't tried it myself.

The game requires Origin (Basically like Steam for EA games)

I know there are several other threads about BF3 already, but none of them are quite so good. D2D offered the legit key for $45 but it is long gone. Because of demand, resellers have been selling the limited edition for approximately $40 give or take a dollar. The cheapest (but also shadiest) I've seen is $35 for the LE. Considering GMG is a completely legit site, and it ties with your North American account just fine, I went for this deal. Got the key INSTANTLY, not 5 minutes, not within 24 hours, INSTANTLY. The key is shown right after checkout on the page. :)

Why can't they ever have these kind of deals for a PS3?!!!

Because PS3 is based of retail discs, so it's up to the distributor to set deals for the games (and Walmart probably won't do a random 75% for a new game).

FOR CANADIANS

Best Buy E3 Deals:
http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/e3-games.aspx

$10 off any preorder, includes major games that are far off into the future or pretty close such as:
Super Smash Bros 3DS
Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
Dead or Alive 5
God of War: Ascension
Ni no Kuni
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Assassin's Creed 3
Halo 4
Tomb Raider
Borderlands 2
Dance Central 3

Not the usual 75% slash, but these are games that a lot of you will buy day 1 for full price anyways, so if you preorder now, you save $10. They don't charge you until they ship it out, so you can cancel at any time if you find something cheaper down the road.

Steam Summer Sale is here! It doesn't look like there's any sort of scavenger hunt meta-game this year, but you are allowed to vote for the next sale you'd like to see. There's also a new sort of overall Steam achievement system called Badges, which includes all of the things you've earned in the past (Potato Sack, Summer Sale Tickets, Winter Sale Coal, etc.) and includes a new one for this sale (and some other things like Community interactions and one for being on Steam for X many years). First day sales are pretty good, but I seem to have everything that's worth buying at the moment.

It's a little late to recommend Payday: The Heist, but it really is a fantastic game since it improves upon Left 4 Dead in pretty much every possible way imo. The online community got a huge jolt, and I think it'll stay boosted for a while since the game is getting pretty positive comments on a lot of gaming forums.

Make sure you keep watch for the flash sales, there have been a few good deals. I was on the fence about buying YS Origin and decided I didn't have the time to play it and by the time I did it would probably go on sale again. I might regret that though.

Best Buy is doing a 3DS sale with Nintendo Zone. I'm not sure if this is restricted to Canada only, but if you connect your 3DS to Nintendo Zone, you will get a $10 off coupon for ANY 3DS game at Best Buy. For Canadians, Best Buy is also doing a sale on Mario Kart 7, Mario Tennis and Super Mario 3D Land, each for $29.99. With the coupon, the games will be $19.99. If you aren't interested, I've heard that the coupon can also be used for games priced at $9.99 for a completely free purchase.

Sears has Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask for $19.99. Came out to around $27 after taxes and shipping. Still a hell of a lot cheaper than the $40 + tax I was going to pay at Target.

You can get free shipping with their 90 day trial for their shipping service. Totally should've done that but I'm pretty sure I'll end up cancelling after it anyways and don't want to deal with that hassle.
