DealExtreme Clear Case PICTURES

Well I bought a clear replacement case from DealExtreme a week back, and encountered a huge amount of problems, but the end result looks great. So here are the pictures I promised, and once again, thanks to all the suggestions people gave me about the problems, they helped ALOT!

The spare parts are kind of nice. Keep in mind that the dstcover is completely clea, the circuit board you see is stolen from my real dust cover.

No more triwing screws, you replace them with regular philips head ones.

Make sure those wires are aligned properly or the case won't close.

The buttons work just like the real ones, except the start and select button, they are a little harder to press.

Most of you are probably following the shock case guide, this picture is not wrong, the guide on flickr photos is wrong. They flipped the speakers upside down, and as aresult, I had sound pumping out behind the DS. Imagine my anger when I had to undo everything and open it all up and put it all back together again when I found out about this problem.

Careful, this wire is easily snapped, and rolling it is a real tough job.

Of course keeping the clear goodies is great, but I can't live without my stylus and my EZ Flash 3 in 1.

Clean and smooth, right after installation of course. A day later, it gets scratched up. It is much easier to scratch these cases than the real ones.

Get super glue with a very fine tipped nozzle to stick that piece of metal in there?

You could try taking the button off and flipping the spring around so it's down in the groove better.

Yeah, that image shows there is room for the spring to be spun around :)

Not sure, I think they marked some of the replaced parts when I sent it in for fixing.

Looks great! Clear cases are not my thing though, since I don't really like looking at the internals of my DS Lite.
Besides, what made me lose my original NDS Phat was because I tried to replace the shell. I'm not going to lose my precious Ice Blue DS Lite :/

Wow, not too bad looking. I always thought about getting one of those Shock! cases. Either a clear or the black matte. But I'm a little hesitant of putting it on myself.

I was never a fan of the clear cases, but your pictures make it seem really nice.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'd ever be able to go without a Guard Mask for my DS, so there really wouldn't be much point to me getting any special DS cases.

Errrrm, frankly.... no. I put so much effort into it, and thought I broke it so many times, it was heart-wrenching. Personally, I am not good with electronics, I have butterfingers, and shaky hands is definitely not an asset in that kind of a project. But if you are good at these kinds of things, or at least have a steady hand and some patience, definitely worth it. Keep in mind though that a clear case is infinitely easier to isntall because you can spot your problems easily. :)

Personally i think it is worth all the hard work as long as you can get it working again. :bom: Also pharaoh, ive done my share of soldering and taking things apart and if it is your first time especially, most people still get nervous/shake just like i do, because it is scary at first and if you f'up, there goes your new high tech gadget. :cussing: :angryfire:

Also it would be cool showing off your new clear case DS lite to your friends and family, but unfortunately they will ask you to do the same thing.
