Not exactly the DS 2...

http://kotaku.com/5392444/how-does-the-dsi-ll-compare-to-the-dsi-and-ds-lite

I think games will be really pixelated on a 4.2" screen...but it does have a better battery life and it comes with 3 dsiware apps.

I will probably buy it when it comes out. Looks pretty good, but its so stupid of Nintendo to do this what will happen to all the DSi users they will all want to upgrade but they already have a DSi.

Although the system if freeken huge, and it weighs a lot as well. I think this system is bigger than the PSP...

Anyways here are some pics.

Wow, it looks pretty sweet. But, in my opinion, it's too early to release another DS. They need to "milk" the cash cow of the DSi before releasing another DS. In the meantime, they can work out any potential bugs.

I probably won't get it until flashcart teams start making their flashcarts work on the DSi LL. My brand new DSi is enough for now.

One more site for info: http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/29/nint ... vember-21/

Also, is it possible my dreams for a youtube player and a better internet app finally be realized on the DSi LL?
:drools:

EDIT: Looking at it some more, the burgundy is growing on me...

At least its not bigger than the PSP it sure does weight more but is not bigger in size. Lol I hope the DS2 won't be as big as the Sega Game Gear....

yeah... i think it's geared more towards old people or people who have trouble reading small text. usually the trend with newer consoles is to make it lighter and smaller, but this one weighs 1.5 times the dsi. clearly, it's meant more as an alternative than an upgrade.

i really don't understand what people are complaining about in the comments section of the article. people are saying that nintendo is forcing people to waste money on upgrading their system?? it's an alternative since a new market segment (old people) clamored for bigger screens. it's huge and heavy, i doubt they'll be marketing it as dsi 2.0.

I think it is more like a promo item or like a realllly secondary choice, not a serious product. I might get my hands on one if it makes it over here, looks kinda cooky, although I'd have to see how it is in real life first.

That looks like...
Something not worth getting.

Advantages: Bigger screen, better battery...
Disadvantages: New hax for homebrew needed, oversized so I can't stuff it in my pocket anymore, fourty bucks more, the colors are kinda ugly, and the internals are pretty much the same as the DSi.

I couldn't exactly put the DSi in my pocket either...

I still think the DSLite was the best generation.
It was small. It was beautiful.

The DSi LL seems bloated, and has no visual appeal whatsoever...

Not only that, how is Ninty gonna stretch the games to the screen size?

What was the price for the DSi when it was coming out in Japan? In yen?

DeltaBurnt

Honestly I think this is another way to stop piracy. This new DSi will probably be packed with stuff to stop exploits that unlock DSi mode and ways to stop flashcarts.

I don't think it takes an extra several inches width and height wise for piracy protection. I think this is just something Nintendo cooked up as good publicity. Get your hands on a jumbo sized DS.... limited time offer or whatever.

It's like those gigantic boxes of Pockey, no one is going to seriously bring them to school as a snack, its just something people might like to have as a souvenir.

Wait... this is a limited time thing only?

And... has Nintendo officially announced anything? I haven't seen a thing about it on their site...

And also,
it does have a better battery life and it comes with 3 dsiware apps.

Which 3 apps are those? Or do you get to choose any 3?

It comes with like 2 new brainage apps and some other app name that's in Japanese. It has yet to be confirmed whether or not the apps will be included with the Europe/US (if the US even gets one). And this was announced by Nintendo.

I won't be getting this. Seems like a waste of money.

Nintendo can do better than this.

Yah it's pretty much a gimmick.

They were probably just using it to slip in anti piracy measures while simultaneously getting more money.

US announcement is on Joystiq. This version is for old people who want to play brain age, stop with the hating. Personally, I think I'll like it too, considering I'm on a PSP now, and the DS screen is plenty small. This will also make EBA easier.

If that was true, I expect it to sell horribly.

Wow that's no where near as bad as I thought.

It'd probably look alot worse on Kingdom Hearts though.

Your link doesn't work.

Plus guess what I have with me its a DSi LL. Screens aren't pixelated on any game that was published by Nintendo, but sorta pixelated on Kingdom Hearts or maybe it could be that game itself. Its not my DSi but it is my friends he is in my house right now. The DSi LL is too huge for me, it is very hard to play when I am laying down on my bed and holding it up because it is so heavy. I also had that problem with my DS lite but on the DSi LL its too much I have to put the DSi LLon my knees so I could rest my hand the same time. But the regular DSi is so light...

I want an LL so badly but the thing is it has no good colors and i dont wanna waste money just for a slightly upgraded version of what I have.

Jakob15

Do not get it. It is not worth it, its really heavy REALLY heavy. Its hard to play any games that use Touch screen controls because you have to hold the DS with one hand which is pretty heavy.

Rockstar
02-06-2010, 12:13 AM
how heavy is it exactly like do you get tired after an hour of playing?
In the afternoon ill go to ebgames to try it ou the guy said he has an import and its a white one :p

Jakob15

I get tired of holding it for 10min... My PSP 1000 was even better to hold than this thing.

It seems the weight is only 100 grams or so heavier, while seemingly significant in terms of percentage, I think it should hardly have an effect in real life application. I'd imagine in to be similar in weight to a DS Lite with some sort of plastic case on.
