Japanese DS Lite?

I want to get either the enamel navy or gloss silver DS Lite. I have a couple questions.

Can I use an American charger with the Japanese DS Lite?

Is there any reason I should not get a Japanese DS Lite?

Voltage difference?

Japan voltage: 100 V Frequency: 50 Hz and 60 Hz
USA voltage: 120 V Frequency: 60Hz

Not sure if that's a dangerous difference though. Singapore and Malaysia voltages differ by 10, and no one has any problems.
