I just posted up my U2DS review on the DSDatabase forum. The direct link is http://dsdatabase.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1065. Or you can read it below. I actually don’t know what to say for this cart, it runs YSMenu and that is it. I wasn’t particularly fond of it, nor could I bash it too much. Hopefully it was a fair assessment. The simplicity of YSMenu meant that I didn’t have very much to talk about, not much to grade the cart on.
This Boxing Day was awesome, I managed to pick up an 8GB Class 6 Sandisk MicroSDHC with the MobileMate MicroSD reader for $30 CAD, which is a steal (probably won’t be in a few months, but still!). First thing I did was pick up my favorite card reader, the one bundled with the AceKard 2 and started the transfer. It took about 15 minutes to transfer my 4GB of data into the cart. I thought that it was fairly acceptable, the AceKard MicroSD reader is the fastest in my arsenal. Then I realized, being the bored individual in Christmas break, how much faster can the MobileMate be?
That’s right, at DSDatabase, we just can’t stop giving! We have our competitions, our raffles, seriously, if you’ve been a member since the start, and you haven’t won anything yet, something is definitely wrong.
Just like our Christmas competition (look at the post below), the rules are extremely simple, and this time, we have Supercard DS ONE carts to give out. And not just one, but THREE. We have THREE SUPERCARD DS ONE CARTS TO HAND OUT for this New Year’s event, so your chances from last time just increased three folds.
So the rules are exactly the same as before: TO ENTER THE RAFFLE, SIMPLY POST ANY COMMENT ON ANY POST WITH A VALID EMAIL BEFORE JANUARY 1ST, 2009!
I’m not going to mention the winner’s name in this post because I can’t figure out how to change fonts, and ruin the suspense. If you really want to see right now, go check the comments, the very first one will have our winner’s email, as well as the backup’s.
To the winner: MAKE SURE YOU EMAIL BACK WITH YOUR FULL NAME, FULL MAILING ADDRESS, AND YOUR PHONE NUMBER ASAP. I’m on a bit of a tight schedule, so I need this information within 3 days. I hate to be cruel, but if I don’t get a reply in 3 days, the prize will be passed on to the backup.
Since I’m a pretty cheap person, I surf DealExtreme.com a lot, and a few months back, I noticed a portable headphone amplifier called the FiiO E3. The FiiO E3 got pretty good ratings, and apparently drastically improves the sound coming from headphones. At the time, I was sort of intrigued. As you may or may not know, I’ve been going through a phase where I wanted to get a pair of decent headphones, but couldn’t exactly because of my extremely limited budget, the FiiO E3 seemed to be a completely plausible solution. Then I read up on the FiiO E3, and found that a new revision called the E5 was to be released, addressing all of the issues of the E3. I waited and waited, and finally, it was on sale at DealExtreme for $21.50, a hefty increase from the $9 of the E3.
The FiiO E5 has received some pretty good reviews, there are lots of graphs online showing how it manipulates different headphones to put out better bass or more even distributions of the frequency, but I didn’t understand much of it. In essence, I think the FiiO E5 does a good job of what it is advertised to do, but sometimes the numbers or technical terms that other reviews put out really distort your expectations. Here I was, expecting my headphones to sound loads better, but the FiiO E5 just doesn’t do that. It has its merits for sure, but don’t be misled to think you’ll get what a real amplifier does or that your headphones will now sound like hundred dollar ones.
I’ve been a pretty avid fan of Lord of the Rings for some time now, sad to say I’ve bought a lot of the games, and was generally disappointed. Today marks the release of the Lord of the Rings: Conquest PS3 Demo, it is free to download in the Playstation Store. It is a hefty 1.3GB and it includes a quick tutorial and a great multiplayer experience. Needless to say this should be but a portion of the actual game.
To put the game into context, the Lord of the Rings Conquest is a game by Pandemic Studios and is set to be released in January 13th, 2009 on the XBOX 360, PS3, PC and the DS. I wasn’t particularly excited in this action game because let’s just say the scope of some of the movie licensed games were absolutely disappointing, but the name Pandemic Studios shed a bit of hope. They are best known for developing the Starwars Battlefront series. So I set out to download the demo, and I was fairly impressed.
The incredibly generous EZ Flash team has given us an EZ Flash Vi cart to giveaway for the revival of the DSDatabase blog. Coincidentally it is also nearing Christmas!
So the rules are: POST ANY COMMENT ON ANY ARTICLE ON THE BLOG TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY(between today and Christmas midnight). Once you have done that you have been automatically entered into the raffle. The results will be posted on the blog. Hopefully you will have given me a valid email so I can notify you of your winnings.
This doesn’t get any easier guys! Any comment, on any of the posts, preferably readable though.
Have you ever had the feeling that you needed a really good SRPG (strategy role playing game) that strays away from the classic formula? You know when you’ve played Final Fantasy Tactics or Luminous Arc far too many times, but you still enjoy the genre? I know I am, and that is where this hidden gem, Yggdra Union - We’ll Never Fight Alone comes in.
A month ago, I stumbled upon a website called FocalPrice.com, and they were selling some pretty decent headphones. A certain set called the Soundmagic PL-30 has also been getting a reputation for being great headphones for the price, so I decided to give them a go.
So I picked up Ubisoft’s My Japanese Coach a month or so ago, and I’ve been slowly progressing through it. There are very few reviews on the internet for the game, and I thought most of them didn’t do the game justice.
