First thing I did was pick up my favorite card reader, the one bundled with the AceKard 2 and started the transfer. It took about 15 minutes to transfer my 4GB of data into the cart. I thought that it was fairly acceptable, the AceKard MicroSD reader is the fastest in my arsenal. Then I realized, being the bored individual in Christmas break, how much faster can the MobileMate be?

Apparently, this card reader comes highly recommended. So I formatted my card, and transferred the same files, and what a difference! It took a mere 4 minutes to transfer the 4GB of data. That’s almost 4x faster!

Let’s see, over the years, I’ve collected and used a lot of MicroSD readers, from the world’s smallest MicroSD reader at DealExtreme.com to the really bulky metal ones bundled with the CycloDS Evolution. If you bought them alone, they’d cost the few dollars that the MobileMate costs. They are just so slow, and I’m considered one of the lucky ones because I haven’t really gotten corrupted data from the readers yet.

Honestly I never bothered getting myself a new card reader, I’ve seen these go on sale for a few dollars in the blowout bins where someone popped out the memory cards or even friends that chuck them into the corner because they use the MicroSD to SD adapter instead. Even worse is when you try to buy a Sandisk MicroSDHC, and it comes bundled, but to lower the price of shipping, you have the option of ditching the content, don’t do it! Let me say this now, the MobileMate MicroSD reader is a nifty reader that retails for $10, and it is far superior to those bundled with your flash carts, it is far superior to connecting your phones to USB or even buying the cheap Chinese card readers.

If you happen to see two Sandisk MicroSDHC cards go on sale, and one is bundled with the reader, go for it, even if it is more expensive! I can’t stress enough what a relief it was to be able to transfer files. As you can tell from my army of MicroSD readers, before I got the MobileMate, I didn’t care for the expensive readers. Usually it takes like a minute or two to transfer one of those larger DS games to my memory card, today, everything happened almost instantaneously. It really saves you a lot of time in the long run to get one of these, whether you believe it or not.

This Boxing Day was awesome, I managed to pick up an 8GB Class 6 Sandisk MicroSDHC with the MobileMate MicroSD reader for $30 CAD, which is a steal (probably won’t …

[1

post-101","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reviews
["GET
