Hiya to the folks of DSDatabase! I’m shadowhunter, and I’m a new blogger here to help PharaohsVizier make DSDatabase a more active community (It’s big already hehe). Now, I happen to visit many different anime forum networks, and one particular topic came up that got my brain running and now I want to know an answer to it. The question was, “How old is Ash Ketchum?” For those of you guys who do not know, (I’d be shocked if you didn’t) Ash is the protagonist in the popular series Pokemon (duh). It’s mainly about Ash trying to become a Pokemon master, by catching all these Pokemon and competing in a league the region offers. I do not know what season the Japanese anime is on, but the dub series is on Season 12. This chum started his journey all those years ago as a 10 year old kid, and being on Season 12, it looks like he hardly aged at all, with the only sign of his aging being a voice change (maybe to signal his puberty?). Look at him then, look at him now.
What the hell? It has been almost 12 full seasons and he still looks like the 10 year old boy that left Pallet Town on our televisions in 1998 (was it ’98 or ’99?) Whoopee, he changed his clothes, but he still looks the same, but has a different dubbed voice. I read on those fanboy sites that he is 14-16 years old, but what could they possibly base their guess on? Are they in some crazy parallel universe where no one ages? Is it that every region that he blazes through one year of his life? It makes me infuriated because I used to be a HUGE Pokemon fanboy. I was the kid who whined for every Pokemon game and movie and made my parents go out to buy every new Pokemon game that came out on release day.
Now that I look back, the show is spinning into a disaster because normal laws of nature, like aging, are being denied. Also, he can jump off the ground and SOMEHOW leap like 50 feet into the sky! What the hell happened to gravity? Now, the show makes no sense, it seems like the producers of this show like to kick people off of the show and never mention them again. Just like Misty. The show’s boring now, kind of like their video games. It’s the same old boring routine. Start your journey and become Pokemon Master, catching Pokemon and obtaining badges from pedestrian gyms and thwarting the plans of some stupidly evil organization. I’m curious about what YOU guys think, because no one has a really precise age for him. It also seems like he has been through so much in his life, without having any side effects, such as gray hair or wrinkles. Does this guy drink every Acai Anti-Age drink on the planet to maintain his youthful vigor? What’s your take on this? Do you care? Probably not, but it’s just for fun, anyways. How else does this chum stay so young? Let’s think of some ideas for fun now. Feel free to leave replies.
