The Acekard 2 was announced a few days ago, and I only just found out about it today. It is on the Acekard site now, which is http://www.acekard.com/acekard_2_en.html.
The site outlines the gist of its features, most of it seems to be taken from straight from the Acekard RPG’s features list. Mainly because it looks like the Acekard RPG minus the internal memory. It retains most of the features that made the Acekard RPG a success. These features include, playing games, native support for the EZ Flash 3 in 1, rom trimming, managing files on the cart itself, advance skinning support, action replay codes support (modifyable within the cart), autoDLDI patching, nopass function and multi-language support.
Because of the lack of the internal memory, the Acekard 2 has just lost the features that I keep the Acekard RPG around for, transferring roms between MicroSD cards. Also, at the moment the Acekard team has confirmed that the Acekard 2 will not be an open source card.
Even so, I am highly anticipating this card. The Acekard RPG has gained a great reputation because of its great features. Removing the internal memory will allow the Acekard 2 to be priced quite a bit lower (the exact words that were used by the Acekard team is “The price would be very sweet”), which was an issue with the Acekard RPG. It seems that they are marketting the Acekard 2 cart to basic users and the Acekard RPG for users who want the full experience.
I will be trying to get ahold of a sample for DSDatabase and reviewing the cart, so stay tooned!
