Heroes of Newerth BETA Keys Giveaway!

If you guys play DotA, you HAVE to try out Heroes of Newerth. Heroes of Newerth is going to be a commerical game that is almost an exact copy of DotA. There are a few new heroes, but many are straight from the game with new names and new graphics. The engine is updated, the interface, etc. I’m not allowed to post any pictures or screenshots of my own because I might get banned, but there is a bit of stuff on Youtube.

Here’s the juicy part. I have THREE invites for DSDatabase viewers. If you want a key, simply post IN THIS THREAD, with a valid email on the form. I don’t mind one word posts or stuff like that, but keep it in this thread. I will then raffle the three off on July 15th, 2009 among everyone who entered. Remember that entries are limited BY IP, not by email address, so don’t try to scam your way into a key.

Anyways, I got the invite yesterday, and have played a few games. Someone in the community who didn’t really know me at all was generous enough to invite me because I simply wanted to try it out, so hopefully this little raffle will be enough to give back.

It is extremely similar to DotA, it did get frustrating trying to figure out all the renamed heroes, but it is kind of cool. Here’s a Youtube video I dug up:

    You can leave URL blank, even name if you want to, but email must be filled out since invites are done via email. This way you don’t have to reveal your email to the public. 🙂

    I heard about this game a while back and, coming from a regular DOTA player, this looks to be very entertaining.

    Sure, currently it’s a bit of a clone, but it’s become progressively clearer that they team was edging up against the modifiable sandbox limits imposed within the current (prior? heh.) DOTA release structure. This standalone, legitimate release now adds so many new possibilities for growth of the game as well as the playing base as large.

    I mean, It’s always enjoyable to see the eventual success of an independently developed mod such as this, so I look forward to playing it myself.

    Also, if I win and if you’re so inclined, let me know who you play under and I’ll look for you in a game sometime.

    My brother, his friend, and I all started getting into DotA quite recently. There is also a game called Demigod that is almost a clone of DotA. I played it once at my friend’s house, and that’s how I got into DotA. Hopefully this game will be just as enjoyable as DotA, but easier to get into and understand.

    Not at all, think of this as almost an exact copy of DotA. I think if you’ve played DotA, you should feel at home after a game or two. The real problem is that all the names are switched, so you can’t recognize heroes at an instant, and you have to learn all of them again. 🙁

    I’m playing LoL as well, and honestly, it annoys me. HoN stays true to DotA, which isn’t exactly a good thing, but better than how LoL butchered the game. LoL kind of made it newb friendly, and it worries me that denying is gone, but I haven’t played either enough to make a good judgement.

    LoL keys are rare 🙁 I only have one RL friend with a key, while all my RL DotA buddies have a HoN key.

    Well, I really play DotA a lot and I guess that must mean I wanna play this also! I’m also really interested in all the heroes and digging up which hero is which.
