Quake Live is yet another browser game, that is to say that you can play it straight from FireFox or Internet Explorer or any other web browser that is currently supported.
I initially tried the game the day it came out. I waited a good 2 and a half hours to reach the front of the queue.

The good news is that lately I haven’t encountered any queues, I think they are beyond the point of narrowing the amount of users anymore. The bad news for me was that after the long wait, you have to actually download the game. So much for a browser game…

I was browsing for a few flash games to pass the time during exam times, and a certain game that had me absolutely hooked was a game at InstantAction.com. It probably isn’t anything close to flash, but it is a browser based game. This means that if you are running Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, etc, you would be able to play the game straight from your web browser.

What is Fallen Empire Legions? It is a multiplayer first person shooter game (FPS) that seems to have a fair number of people playing. It isn’t demanding, it is available on a browser, etc. For me, this game obviously doesn’t replace my good old CounterStrike or Unreal Tournament, but it does a nice job of letting me game when I go to a friend’s house with no games. I can quickly boot up a game anywhere and start playing.

Over the weekend, I finally picked up and finished Professor Layton and the Curious Village on the DS. This game has been highly recommended, but also doubted by many (myself included).

Before I actually played through it, I always thought that it was just a jumble of puzzles stringed together with a weak story. I couldn’t believe how many times it got nominated or voted for best game, or best gameplay or best whatever. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. I even booted up the game and played an hour or so in the past, and the idea of a mix of random puzzles still stuck with me.

I thought I was a pretty good Tetris player. I could always turn impossible situations around, or deal with pieces going down pretty fast, etc. I’ve played Tetris on a variety of consoles, but never have I seen anything as fascinating as Bastet.

Bastet has probably been around for quite some time, but I’ve only discovered it today. Bastet is also known as Evil Tetris or Bastard Tetris. The idea behind Bastet is to provide a new level of difficulty for Tetris without the standard speeding up or raising the level of odd bumps. Instead Bastet finds the best piece for the current scenario and simply avoids giving that piece.

I’ve been a pretty avid fan of Lord of the Rings for some time now, sad to say I’ve bought a lot of the games, and was generally disappointed. Today marks the release of the Lord of the Rings: Conquest PS3 Demo, it is free to download in the Playstation Store. It is a hefty 1.3GB and it includes a quick tutorial and a great multiplayer experience. Needless to say this should be but a portion of the actual game.

To put the game into context, the Lord of the Rings Conquest is a game by Pandemic Studios and is set to be released in January 13th, 2009 on the XBOX 360, PS3, PC and the DS. I wasn’t particularly excited in this action game because let’s just say the scope of some of the movie licensed games were absolutely disappointing, but the name Pandemic Studios shed a bit of hope. They are best known for developing the Starwars Battlefront series. So I set out to download the demo, and I was fairly impressed.

Have you ever had the feeling that you needed a really good SRPG (strategy role playing game) that strays away from the classic formula? You know when you’ve played Final Fantasy Tactics or Luminous Arc far too many times, but you still enjoy the genre? I know I am, and that is where this hidden gem, Yggdra Union - We’ll Never Fight Alone comes in.

So I picked up Ubisoft’s My Japanese Coach a month or so ago, and I’ve been slowly progressing through it. There are very few reviews on the internet for the game, and I thought most of them didn’t do the game justice.
