Handhelds to rule the industry? Or just crappy and overpriced?

dsigo

Discussion articles are fun to write and fun to have, so let’s have another one! This time it’s about handhelds. Many people have mixed feelings about handhelds. They’re over priced, they have some of the most fun games, they’ll never be good as consoles, they’re useless, etc. There’s very mixed messages here and there. So let’s take a look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of  handhelds, how they’re treated, the quality of the games they receive, and what role they’ll play in the gaming industry in the future.

What Exactly Makes a Game for Kids?

Hey guys, this is DeltaBurnt and I’m posting my first discussion/fun blog! Reviews are nice but every now and then it’s time for a fun blog , don’t you agree? Anyways I noticed that lately alot of Wii/DS games (and some other games) are getting labeled as kid’s games even though they are loved by all ages and have tons of action. So this has got me wondering…what exactly makes people classify games as kid’s game?

Get the most out of the DS Browser!

For those who still own a copy of the DS Browser, you’re bound to someday miss the functionalities of a full fledged desktop browser. Not only can you not open a new “tab” nor save cookies, the DS browser feels sort of incomplete. Even when you check off “Automatically log me in” on any sort of webpage, it simply doesn’t work.

So I dug around for a bit, and found some pretty awesome “extra features” that you can easily “install” to the DS Browser. Not only is there a tabbing feature, there’s also a password-saving like feature to save time logging in to webpages. Want to find out how? Read on!

EZ Flash Vi OFFICIAL Review!

dscn0338

Hello guys, this is shadowhunter93. This is my first review in the big leagues of flash cart reviewing… Kinda nerve racking. This whole review talk is boring me, so let’s plunge into the review. This EZ Flash Vi was provided to me by one PharaohsVizier, my new best friend round the online world these days. It came in the mail yesterday and I’ve been tinkering with it ever since then. I think now I’ve got a good handle on this cart, so let’s get on with the review! Read the rest of this entry »

YIHAO Headset Review

Hey guys I’m DeltaBurnt. I’m a new blogger here for DS Database :) . Basically I’m just going to post some fun blogs and do reviews of various electronics and toys (possibly flashcarts if I get one that hasn’t been reviewed here yet). Anyways I’m doing a review of a cheap 9 dollar headset on dealextreme. This is a headset from YIHAO that has a microphone (you probably already know that from picture ^^). That’s it right up there *points towards the picture at the top*. Yep that baby’s only 9 dollars! Is it worth it? Or will it fall apart the second you pick it up? Continue reading to find out!

DSDatabase + DS Browser Test

The Nintendo DS browser,  is, well, obviously, a web browser for the Nintendo DS.  The browser got discontinued after release; Nintendo never announced why. I happen to still have a copy I picked up from Fry’s a long time ago.

In a nutshell: The DS browser renders well for a mobile browser, but renders real slow. It takes usually about a minute to fully render a page. There’s no flash, no java, no ajax… but I can render html-heavy websites with ease.

When it comes to the DS browser, there are two types of rendering. Overview mode, in which the chosen screen will render just like the desktop, but real small. There’s a little blue box in which you can drag around, that magnifies the part in which you highlight in real time on the opposite screen. SSR mode, or Small Screen Rendering, is just like a phone browser. Only certain parts are rendered, and the page is shoved down to the width of the screen. SSR usually renders faster than Overview.

So how does DSDatabase’ Forums stack up with the DS browser? I ran some speed tests to find out.

Fun To Read Blogs: Extreme Boredom and News!

*yawn* Hello guys, thanks for joining me on another Fun to Read blog thing. I’m sorry for my absence. I was busy with trying to earn good scores on my last practice SAT because my parents offered me the chance to get a PSP. Yay… so, of course, I worked my ass off and I scored much better than the past few weeks. So, after a few days of friggin intense shopping via Amazon and Ebay, I bought a PSP Slim on ebay, but I don’t know if it is hackable. I have everything on my computer ready, I have the ISOs, the emulators, the GBA games, the programs, ChickHEN, DdC, and whatnot. Now I need to wait a few days to get my PSP from USPS and my Pandora Battery. ‘Tis a shame DX shipping failed so horribly. I ordered from them, waited 5 days, and the product did not ship out! So, I cancelled, and bought off Amazon. Three days later, I get my memory card. That was yesterday. LOL it came really quick. I was most pleased. Anyways enough with that… Read the rest of this entry »
