The long-awaited Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box is here, released in the US. I’ve had my hands on it for a few days already, and I have to say, I’m impressed. There’s a nifty amount of puzzles to solve, and the storyline is just as good as Professor Layton and the Curious Village.
Layton 2 is the direct sequel to Curious Village. The storyline in a nutshell: Layton’s friend manages to get hold of a box, rumored to kill anyone who opens it. Layton’s friend is later found dead, leaving a train ticket behind. Layton and Luke take the train to find the secret of the box - and the killer.
I have yet to beat the game, but I’ve played it for a few hours now, and I’d thought I’d share my thoughts on it for my first blog post.
Well I’ve amassed quite a few DSi flash cartridges over the last half a year or so, and I’ve been stuck using the 1.3 firmware so that all my carts can work. Now that they are all updatable, the last being the iPlayer, I figured I’d take videos of the update process and sort of tell you guys how to do it. So, the four carts I have with me today are: M3i Zero, Supercard DS ONEi, AceKard 2i, and the iPlayer. I know that there are other carts that work with 1.4, but I don’t have an EZ Flash Vi at the moment, but I will update this blog when I receive mine.
Before I start off, I just want to thank 4CoolDay, one of this site’s sponsors for providing some of the stuff used in these videos. And also for providing the helpful list found at (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=174664&st=0). So be sure to support both DSDatabase and 4CoolDay by shopping at 4CoolDay.com.
So read more to see how each of the carts update. My personal favorite is the M3i Zero, it was nice and simple, although I suppose the iPlayer is also impressive if it weren’t for the scare. The Supercard DS ONEi was by far the longest, but it too was relatively pain free, while the AceKard 2i has the best system for flashing multiple carts at once, so kudos to them.
It’s been a few days since I last posted anything. I bought a few things from DealPerfect.com, and I thought that one of the ones that stand out is called the Mirror Block. Obviously it is a fake, but at $5, and the fact that it is better than the original makes it a great buy for me.
What is it? The mirror block, mirror cube, bump cube, bump block are all the same thing. A modified 3×3x3 Rubik’s Cube that is all one color but has different size cubes. The cube is divided in such a way so that no 2 cubes are the same size, and you have to solve it based on the size of the cubes and how they fit together. Even though essentially it is the same cube as the original Rubik’s Cube, it is a HUGE challenge for me because some of us rely quite a bit on the colors of a Rubik’s Cube for the solve. It is a fun variation worth trying out.

The PS3 Slim is finally OFFICIALLY announced. It doesn’t seem like there are many details yet, we don’t know if there is backwards compatibility with PS2 or PS1 games, but we do know that it is supposed to do everything the PS3 does.
*yawn* Hello guys, thanks for joining me on another Fun to Read blog thing. I’m sorry for my absence. I was busy with trying to earn good scores on my last practice SAT because my parents offered me the chance to get a PSP. Yay… so, of course, I worked my ass off and I scored much better than the past few weeks. So, after a few days of friggin intense shopping via Amazon and Ebay, I bought a PSP Slim on ebay, but I don’t know if it is hackable. I have everything on my computer ready, I have the ISOs, the emulators, the GBA games, the programs, ChickHEN, DdC, and whatnot. Now I need to wait a few days to get my PSP from USPS and my Pandora Battery. ‘Tis a shame DX shipping failed so horribly. I ordered from them, waited 5 days, and the product did not ship out! So, I cancelled, and bought off Amazon. Three days later, I get my memory card. That was yesterday. LOL it came really quick. I was most pleased. Anyways enough with that… Read the rest of this entry »
I’m not one to usually get addicted to flash games, but I have been playing this one for the last few hours. I suppose it could be my free schedule on the lazy days of summer or perhaps the sheer boredom of watching Lord of the Rings for the hundredth time, but it matters not, Multitask has captured my attention.
The game is rather simple in design. You are playing 4 mini games at once basically. All four of these games would have been simple otherwise. You use both hands, using the arrow keys, the WASD keys and the spacebar. I guess you could try to play it with one hand, but it is already challenging enough as it is. You could always ask your friends to help (though the creator seems to imply that it is cheating) but it defeats the purpose. The game makes you pay attention to four different games at once that are simple simple mini games. The end result is a fabulous flash game that makes you look all around your computer screen, scrambling to get your fingers in place while confusing you because of the similar controls. It is a great way to kill time.
I recently acquired this game, and decided to write a mini-review, or my first impressions of G.I Joe: Rise of the Cobra. I tend to dislike games based on movies, but I thought I’d give it a try before writing it off.
Hi guys, its shadowhunter. I’m really sorry about my lack of blog postings and fun articles. I’ve been really tired out and I’ve got my final SAT examination on Friday. This test will make or break the rest of my summer. If I score well enough on this test, my parents will let me get a PSP! I’ve got the memory card shipping out via DealExtreme and I’m quite tired cuz PSP ISO files are friggin HUGE!
Anyways, I’ll get back to blogging next week, I’m really exhausted with SATs and such. Please wish me luck, because IF i get my PSP, i’ll be sure to play with you guys online.
What’s up everybody? I’m Benji, or benjaminlibl, and this is my first blog post for DSDatabase! Woooo. I will be blogging about the randomest of things, but today we shall start off with a games-related post!
Recently, I’ve been reminiscing about the older consoles I used to own. I’ve also been wondering, what makes a game fun? This is a very subjective topic, of course, but some of you out there might say that a fun game consists of the following:
- Good graphics
- Multiplayer mode
- Mini-games
- Storyline
And so on. Supposedly, these are the key elements to a fun game. However, this can’t be right. Before the NDS, there was the GBA. If you go back further, there is the GBC, and the classic Gameboy. Each console evolved into something bigger(metaphorically speaking), badder and..
Evening, and thanks for joining me and reading yet another Fun To Read Blog article! This is currently my ninth article of FTR, so I’ve come a long way so far! Anyways, news has been terribly lacking! This kinda sucks on my end because I gathered random things out there on the news for blogging entertainment. The news these days is so droll, not including the typhoon Morakot that struck China and forced one million people to flee the 111 mile per hour hellstorm. I give my condolences to the many people whom were injured or killed and pray that they live and can return to their home. But screw that! Let’s be more cheery! Since there have been no MAJOR news items, I have decided to release a new branch of my Fun to Read blogs, called News Flash! This is to talk about video game news and other eye popping articles! And for those whom eagerly awaited yesterday’s blogs and could not find any, I’m sad to say I was busy and no blog was posted. However, I’m proud to launch Fun To Read Blogs Article 9 and News Flash 1: Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver News!
